Abhishek Kapoor's Kedarnath, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan as the lead pair, is slated to hit the theatres on December 7. However, the release of the film might have to be pushed further as a petition has been filed against it in the Uttarakhand High Court for allegedly hurting the sentiments of Hindus.
This petition against Kedarnath has been filed by Swami Darshan Bharati, who has accused the film to be an "ugly taint" on the Hindu shrine, apart from stating that Lord Kedarnath has also been insulted in the film. Not only this, the PIL also claims that Kedarnath's trailer shows that Muslims have been residing in the area for ages while there are no residents from the community in the area.

Meanwhile, several Hindu organizations have openly opposed the release of Kedarnath and even the Uttarakhand government has denied any form of support. Ever since the trailer came out, the film has been accused of promoting love-jihad and despite producer Ronnie Screwvala and director Abhishek defending the film time and again, troubles don't seem to end for them.
Now what fate does the film has to endure, is still left to be seen.
For the unversed, the film is a love story of a Muslim boy Mansoor and a Hindu girl Mukku, set against the backdrop of the 2013 Uttarakhand floods.
