After Priyanka Chopra’s grand wedding to American singer Nick Jonas in Jodhpur, her mother Madhu Chopra said that it was an emotional moment for her as she “broke into tears” seeing her daughter dressed as a bride. Nick and Priyanka married in a two-part wedding ceremony at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur – on December 1 in a Christian wedding and as per Hindu traditions on December 2.
“It was an emotional moment for everyone. I broke into tears when I saw Priyanka dressed as a bride. I had waited for this day all my life. We followed all the rituals to the T. There were no shortcuts. I wanted an Indian shaadi for her and Priyanka knew that. She fulfilled my wish. It’s lovely to see the amount of love people have for her and Nick,” Madhu Chopra told a leading daily.

Priyanka, during her Christian wedding, wore a white Ralph Lauren gown with intricate embellishments and looked simply stunning so much so that her mother was at a ‘loss for words’.

“I was at a loss of words. When I saw Priyanka, I couldn’t control my emotions. The white gown was so beautiful. My baby looked like a princess,” Madhu Chopra said, adding that Priyanka’s Sabyasachi lehenga that she wore during her traditional Hindu wedding was beautiful as well. “Priyanka looked ‘her prettiest best’ in the outfit. There was no jhatak, no jhilmil — it was a simple yet classy ensemble,” she added.
Priyanka and Nick hosted a reception at The Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi on December 4 in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi while the event was held in the presence of close friends and family. Reports suggest that Priyanka and Nick will host a reception for her friends and colleagues from the film fraternity in Mumbai in due course of time but no official date has been announced by the couple.
