Although 2018 has been a great year for content-driven cinema it has not been very obliging towards A-list stars. Salman Khan’s Race 3 was a highly anticipated film but came a cropper at the box office and then Aamir Khan’s and Amitabh Bachchan’s much-awaited Thugs of Hindostan fell flat on its face. The film also starred Katrina Kaif who was trolled for her minute role in the film. She received a lot of backlash from her fans and followers for the film’s debacle and her blink-and-you-miss-me part.
Now, that the actress is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Zero that also stars Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead, she is a little wary of the audience’s expectations. However, in a recent interview with an entertainment portal, she opened up about the failure of Thugs of Hindostan and said, “I think Aamir Khan put it very beautifully recently that you know that everyone tried their best but it didn’t work with the audience on that level. I think it was a good attempt on everyone’s part and that’s the only thing we can do and keep trying to engage our audience.”

She also spoke about the power of social media and the word-of-mouth that often becomes the key factor in a film’s success at the box office these days. Talking about the power of social media she said, “If the film would not have worked by, say the Monday, maybe, now with the presence of social media, the film would probably take the hit on Sunday.”
Katrina plays Babita Kumari, a superstar in her forthcoming film Zero. The film is directed by Aanand L Rai and is releasing on December 21.
