Golmaal 5 will happen, confirms Simmba filmmaker Rohit Shetty!

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who has a wicked sense of humour, continues to tease audiences waiting in wild anticipation for further news of the next installment of his popular action comedy franchise Golmaal.

You remember how Rohit got his Golmaal actors Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu to cleverly flash five fingers in the recreated Aankh Marey song from Simmba? That gesture had all of Bollywood speculating that he was getting a message across. And that message was that Rohit would be making Golmaal 5 soon – probably right after Simmba.

Now Rohit in a chat with Bollywood trade site Box Office India admits that the five fingers shown by his Golmaal quartet in Simmba’s Aankh Marey number was indeed “a kind of” announcement. But the director and co-producer of Simmba also said Golmaal 5 will take time in coming.

It is likely to take as much as two or three years. “We have not written the story yet. After this (meaning the stupendous success of Golmaal Again, the fourth film of the franchise, which was 2017’s fifth highest-grossing Bollywood film), going a notch higher will take a lot of time.”

Golmaal fans are prepared to wait. There is always the element of surprise in a Rohit Shetty film. In Simmba, he’s got his Singham supercop Ajay Devgn to break all Bollywood boundaries of rivalry between successful box office characters and come to the rescue of the debutant Simmba cop Ranveer Singh.

That’s not all the seetey-bajao news of Simmba. Rohit also managed to coax the flamboyant Karan Johar, his co-producer in the Ranveer Singh-Sara Ali Khan action thriller releasing on December 28, to make a walk-in appearance in the Aankh Marey number that’s top of the music charts already. Now it’s to be seen whether Rohit gets Ranveer to return the favour by playing a cameo in Golmaal 5. You just never know with him! But enjoy Rohit Shetty’s Simmba first.
