Actress Ankita Lokhande, who became a household name with Ekta Kapoor's TV soap Pavitra Rishta, is all set to foray into Bollywood with Kangana Ranaut starrer historical drama, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Ankita will feature as Jhalkari Bai, a woman soldier in Rani Laxmibai’s army, who eventually rose to the position of an advisor to the Queen.
Now at the trailer launch of the film on Tuesday, she was asked about her debut film, to which Ankita replied, "I am super-excited and super nervous too. Whatever is happening right now, is something that is really new for me. So Kangana and Kamal (Jain) sir, thank you for this journey. Thank you for everything."
Some of you might not be aware that Ankita was earlier expected to make her film debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. However, she rejected SLB not once but twice in the past by turning down both Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. When she was prodded about the same, she clarified her stance by saying, "I don't know about the debut with Sanjay sir. Yes, I was about to do a film with him. So if you ask me about comparing Manikarnika and Sanjay sir's films, I don't know if there's something like a perfect debut. I feel whatever you do, is perfect for you. In Manikarnika, I have given my best and I have got the best since I've been directed by Kangana. I think that's beautiful.
