Fierce is the word for Kangana as her entry in the trailer of Manikarnika is remarkable – with her archery skills on point, she kills a tiger with absolute ease. She is not just a relentless warrior but a beloved queen as well as a loving mother. Kangana battles with a sword and doesn’t spare her enemies as she fights with blood and sweat.

The makers of Manikarnika have left no stone unturned in making the war sequences as intense as possible. Rani of Jhansi fights for her motherland with pride – especially in the particular scene in which she is left with blood smeared on her face on the battlefield with her head held high.

Kanyaein kaise kalaiyyan ghumati hai? Trust Manikarnika to portray her skills as she fights with her sword and rides on her horse across vast fields and also helps her fellow warriors to master the craft of battling with the metal blade. Her oath ahead of the war is intense as she walks across her palace with an austere expression and rightfully exclaims, “Main Laxmibai, pratigya karti hoon, jab tak mere sharir mein rakht hai, main poorn nishta se Jhansi ki seva karungi.” While on the throne, Manikarnika asserts, “Main apni Jhansi nahi doongi.” The trailer is loaded with fervent dialogues as such.

The Struggle For Azaadi

Musician Shankar Mahadevan’s song in the backdrop of the trailer sets the mood of the film – “Main rahoon ya na rahoon, Bharat yeh rehna chaahiye.” As Manikarnika sets foot on the battlefield, she asserts that she will fight for the freedom of the country until her last breath. “Hum ladenge, taaki aanewaali peediyan, apni azaadi ka utsav manaaye.” Watch out for Kangana as she declares, “Har Har Mahadev”, while she tears open the British flag with a single strike of her sword.

Unbelievable Grandeur

Considering the fact that Manikarnika is a magnum opus, makers have designed sets and costumes with precision as the film will transport you to the particular era. Be it the palatial establishments and forts or Kangana’s costumes – sarees and traditional jewellery – Manikarnika is a real treat. We also loved the scene in which Kangana, along with her child, rides across the battlefield on a horse after wreaking havoc on her enemies.
