For Ranveer Singh, the ‘highlight’ of 2018 is his marriage with Deepika Padukone; of course, we knew it

For Ranveer Singh, 2018 has been nothing short of ecstatic – not only as far as his professional life is concerned but also in his personal space. The year opened with his film Padmaavat, in which Ranveer’s performance as Alauddin Khilji was singled out for praise while the second half of 2018 was all about his wedding to Deepika Padukone. Shaadi done, Ranveer is currently enjoying marital bliss and also, gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Simmba.

Needless to mention, the ‘highlight’, thus, of this year has been his marriage, as Ranveer told a leading daily during an interview. Of course, we knew that, without a doubt. “For me, the highlight of this year is my marriage to Deepika (Padukone),” Ranveer told the daily.

Ranveer and Deepika married in Italy in a two part-wedding – in a Konkani ceremony on November 14 and in a traditional Anand Karaj on November 15. After returning to India, Deepika and Ranveer hosted a reception for close friends and family in her hometown Bengaluru followed by a grand party for their friends and colleagues from the film industry in Mumbai.

During his interview, Ranveer also said that Deepika has watched certain portions of Simmba and appreciated it as well. She also loved the new song from the film, titled Aankh Marey. In Simmba, directed by Rohit Shetty, Ranveer has been cast as a cop while he added that Deepika wasn’t quite sure of his look in the film initially but was aware that his twirled moustache will work wonders for his character.

“She has liked whatever she has seen of Simmba. She loves Aankh Marey. On my birthday (July 6), my family and Deepika visited me on the sets in Hyderabad and Rohit sir was kind enough to show them some portions, which she loved. Usually, she is extremely critical of my work, but she liked what she saw of Simmba. She said, ‘This is masala done really well.’ Deepika doesn’t like every look of mine. In real life, she wasn’t sure whether this moustache with its twirled edges would work for me, but she knew it worked wonderfully for the character of Simmba. She thought I was looking fit and hot. And I was happy to hear that,” Ranveer added.

Simmba, co-starring Sara Ali Khan, will release on December 28.
