On his 53rd birthday, Salman Khan says fans' love and respect matter more to him than stardom

Ahead of his 53rd birthday celebrations, Salman Khan interacted with the press in Mumbai and said that he is elated about receiving love and respect from fans in his career spanning almost three decades. More than stardom, Salman is delighted that his ardent admirers showered love and respect on him throughout.

"I am happy that people love me so much. Stardom matters in a way but what makes me more happy is the love and respect of people and that they trust me a lot. This all means a lot to me," Salman told reporters on Wednesday, a news agency reports.

While speaking to reporters, Salman added that he will continue to work hard and impress fans with his films.

Salman, meanwhile, celebrated his birthday on December 27 at his farmhouse in Panvel with family and close friends including Katrina Kaif, Sonakshi Sinha, Sushmita Sen, Jacqueline Fernandez, Anil Kapoor and Dino Morea.

Biwi Ho To Aisi marked Salman’s – son of veteran screenwriter Salim Khan – debut in Bollywood in 1988 but that film did little to escalate the actor to the path of stardom – what actually did, was Maine Pyaar Kiya, which released a year later and emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of the 80’s.

Salman subsequently starred in the films Baaghi: A Rebel for Love, Saajan, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Karan Arjun, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Sultan.

Last seen in a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan's December release Zero, Salman will appear next in his 2019 Eid release Bharat.
