New Poster Alert: Superstar Ranveer Singh is back with ‘Gully Boy’!

Goodbye 2018, hello 2019. It’s just five days since Ranveer Singh’s Simmba released and pulled Bollywood out of the doldrums it had slipped into with the dismal festive box-office showings of Zero and Thugs of Hindostan, and here the film industry’s indefatigable new superstar is ready to announce his next film. The tills are still ringing madly at the box office andSimmba director and co-producer Rohit Shetty (along with Karan Johar) is laughing all the way to the bank, when Ranveer fans begin the New Year with the first look of his next film.

This time, it’s Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy that Ranveer is promoting today. And he’s joined in it by the hugely talented and mesmerizing Alia Bhatt. This is one pairing that people inside and outside of Bollywood are most anxious to see. There’s also Kalki Koechlin and the buzz doing the rounds is that Ranveer has multiple kissing scenes with both the actresses in Gully Boy. Sources from Zoya’s sets whisper that Ranveer, who plays a street rapper in the musical drama, has three lip-locks with Alia and two with Kalki. Since the film produced by Zoya’s Tiger Baby and Excel Entertainment is slated for a Valentine Day release, that should steam up the advance booking.

The film is based on Mumbai street rappers Naved Shaikh aka Naezy and Vivian Fernandez aka Divine. Both Ranveer and Alia shared posts on their Instagram accounts of their experiences shooting Gully Boy in and around Mumbai. And the excitement for the film and their pairing is now palpable. Ranveer and Alia have featured together before in a series of funny ad films for the online travel company MakeMyTrip but it’s going to take Zoya to bring the chemistry between two of Bollywood’s hottest properties out on the screen. Her last big directorial was Dil Dhadakne Do in 2015 that also starred Ranveer with Priyanka Chopra. It’s not known what magic she has brought to this film, but when they wrapped it up both Ranveer and Alia thanked Zoya for the unique and unforgettable experience of making Gully Boy. Paparazzi have closely followed the shooting and teased fans with morsels picked up from Zoya’s sets at railway stations, slums, heritage areas and other famous landmarks of Mumbai. Now people can’t wait to see it and the promised Ranveer-Alia romance on the screen.
