Vicky Kaushal has had a fabulous 2018 with films like Raazi, Sanju and Manmarziyaan, Love Per Square Foot and Lust Stories earning him accolades for his acting and screen presence. Now the actor is all geared up for his upcoming release Uri: The Surgical Strike that is releasing on January 11. The film also stars Yami Gautam in the lead role. During a recent interview given to a leading daily, Vicky spoke about the extreme conditions in which he shot the film and the immense respect he has developed for the Indian Army after shooting the film in real locations.
During the interview, Vicky was asked whether he has started appreciating the Indian Army even more now after shooting the film. Vicky replied in the affirmative and said, “Absolutely! I keep telling Aditya, this is my first superhero film. Our soldiers call themselves a breed apart. After Uri, I understood why they do so. It’s not because of how tough they are. It’s just their willingness to stand before a nation to take a bullet and pull the trigger when it’s needed."

He further added, "To be away from their families for months at a stretch and not knowing when they will come back, or if they will come back at all. That willfulness to serve the nation, people who they don’t know. All of that. They take pride in it and the way they do so is mesmerizing.”
Vicky plays the role of Major Vihan Shergill in the film which is based on the surgical strike that took place on September 29, 2016, across the Line of Control in Pakistani-administered Kashmir. Uri: The Surgical Strike is directed by Aditya Dhar.
