Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray, a biopic based on the life of Shiv Sena Supremo Balasaheb Thackeray, has been embroiled in controversies ever since it was announced. While it earlier made headlines after Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) asked for changes in the dialogues, Shiv Sena activists later demanded that the biopic will have a clean release, saying that the party will not allow any other film to release on January 25.
Recently, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was asked to comment on the ongoing solo release row of Thackeray, to which he said, "There is no bigger star than Balasaheb Thackeray in Maharashtra. Every producer always looks at their business. Everybody wants to watch this film that day. So, it's obvious that no other filmmaker will screen their film on the same day," as quoted by a leading news agency.

Meanwhile amidst threats, makers of several films including Cheat India have altered their dates in order to avoid clash with Thackeray. In fact, only yesterday Emraan Hashmi and the makers of Cheat India announced that the film will now reportedly open in theatres on January 18 instead of releasing on the same day as Thackeray. However, Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is slated for a January 25 release so far and we wonder if makers would change its release date so far.
