John Abraham talks about his dream project '1911', getting off from social media and more

John Abraham, who is a football enthusiast and owns NorthEast United FC as well, has joined hands with filmmaker Nikkhil Advani, with whom he had recently worked in Satyamev Jayate, to make a film on the iconic 1911 football match that was a defining moment in India's freedom struggle. With films like RAW, Batla House and 1911 in the pipeline, the actor is clearly keen on giving us a glimpse into real-life dramas with his forthcoming projects.

While he terms RAW and Batla House as compelling stories, 1911 has been his dream project for over five years and will see him in the role of a football player. Talking about it, John told a leading daily, "It is a challenge to execute a film of this magnitude but in terms of the sport, I enjoy it and it’s easy for me. When you kick the ball, the audience should be convinced you are a player and not just acting as one. On that front I think I can be decently convincing."

Reportedly, the film is expected to roll in November 2019 and will be shot in Kolkata, targeting a mid-2020 release.

Meanwhile, John is one of the few actors who seem really upset with the social media since it has made the actors become prisoners of their own image. When asked about it, the actor told the daily that social media is a "farce" by further adding, "I’m not a social media hater, it is a great platform and can be used effectively in some cases. But at the same time, it’s also responsible for polarising the world. There’s so much hate and negativity there that it's toxic."

Well, we certainly agree with John on this!
