Deepika Padukone to play Ranveer Singh's wife in Kabir Khan's '83? Here's the truth

After ending the last year with a bang with his masala entertainer Simmba, it looks like Ranveer Singh is all set to roar in 2019 as well. Just a few days back, he impressed us all with his hip-hop skills in the teaser of Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy, in which Ranveer plays a Mumbai-based rapper. But that's not enough as the super-talented actor is all set to play iconic cricketer Kapil Dev in his biopic '83, which is being helmed by Kabir Khan.

Although the cast is yet to be decided, a report in a leading daily recently created a stir since it claimed that Deepika Padukone will be playing Ranveer's wife in the film, which revolves around the 1983 World Cup win. It also stated that DP will be required to shoot for around 7 days and as expected, DeepVeer fans went gaga that they will get to see the real-life couple play husband and wife on the celluloid soon.

However, to everyone's dismay, Ranveer recently told in an interview that nothing of that sorts has been decided yet. "I don't know what the final casting is. I just know that I am playing Kapil Dev. I am going to meet Kabir (Khan) sir soon and will get an entire low-down on '83. At this point, I don't know what's up. I am starting training soon and it's going to be a ball-busting training process. I am looking forward to this new and exciting challenge," the actor was quoted as saying by an entertainment portal.

Well, we hope that we get an official confirmation on the casting soon. Meanwhile, it looks like it’s going to be all work and no play for Ranveer!
