Before Vivek Oberoi announced his Narendra Modi biopic, it was Paresh Rawal who had expressed his desire to make a film on the enigmatic Prime Minister of India. After, Vivek announced his project and unveiled the posters of the film; many thought that Paresh has taken a backseat from his dream project. However, the veteran actor is undeterred by the reported film and has stated that he is going ahead with a biopic on the prime minister’s life and believes it to be the most challenging role of his career.
Talking about the biopic, Paresh said in an interview, “It is the most challenging role of my career till date. I have a hunger for good roles. I want to be challenged and I am looking forward to this experience. We will start work this year itself.” The actor is also going to produce the film. He said that the film faced a few hurdles at the script and the financial level but the film is very much in development.
The actor said, “We are stuck at the script level and bit on the financial, production levels. I am producing it. We are going to do it, 100 per cent. I am playing Modi.” Vivek’s look from the film has come under a lot of discussions as many felt that it neither looked like the leader nor the actor. Talking about the same, Paresh said, “It (biopic) is all about getting closer to the real person. The basics are the same, white hair, beard and spectacles. (But) For me, it is about capturing his eyes, his anguish and the burning desire to take the country forward, his hatred for corrupt people. All this should reflect in the character.”
Vivek’s film is directed by Omung Kumar and the posters of the film were released in 23 Indian languages by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis.
