Ananya Panday will star opposite Kartik Aaryan in the remake of the 1978 film Pati Patni Aur Woh, featuring Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha and Ranjeeta in the principle roles, a leading daily reports. Peepingmoon.com reported last week that Kartik had been finalised as the male lead in the film that will be directed by Mudassar Aziz while Juno Chopra and Abhay Chopra will produce it in collaboration with Bhushan Kumar of T-Series.
Sources, meanwhile, told the daily that Ananya will play the role portrayed by Ranjeeta Kaur in the original. Ananya, in fact, loved the script after hearing the narration and assigned dates to the project as well. “Ananya has been signed on for the Pati Patni Aur Woh remake, which is being produced by Juno Chopra. She will essay the role that was portrayed by Ranjeeta Kaur in the original. The idea is to make it a modern version of the classic with a young cast. The makers wanted someone cute as well as glamorous for the part and she fit the bill. When the script was narrated to her, she was in splits and gave bulk dates, almost immediately,” a source was quoted as saying by the daily, adding that a “top actress” will play Kartik’s wife’s role in the remake, portrayed by Vidya Sinha in the original.

They have also decided to change the climax,” the source said, adding that it the project will begin filming in February. However, no official confirmation has been available on either of these reports from the parties concerned.

Last month, Kartik and Ananya were spotted together at eateries across Mumbai, escalating link-up rumours, but we guess the reason behind the meetings was professional as such. Kartik, star of films Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Guest iin London and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, will appear next in Luka Chuppi opposite Kriti Sanon.
