Barun Sobti’s film 22 Yards has got its release date on February 22, 2019. Barun took to Twitter to share the film’s release date with a poster. The film is a sports drama and besides Barun stars Rajesh Sharma, Panchi Bora, Amol Palekar, Tisca Chopra, Geetika Tyagi and Chaiti Ghoshal, and newbie Amartya Ray, who plays a cricketer. Helmed by former sports journalist Mitali Ghoshal the film had its premiere at the Bay Area South Asian Film Festival.
The film’s trailer will be launched by former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly who has a long-standing relationship with Mitali as she has made the famous documentary on him called Warrior Prince.

Talking about Sourav, Mitali told IANS, “This film is based on cricket, so we asked Sourav Ganguly to launch the trailer, and it was very nice of him to agree. He has not seen the full film, but he has seen the trailer and he loved it.”

The film is a triumphant tale of two individuals, a cricket agent (played by Barun) and a young cricketer (played by Amartya) and how they triumph over numerous barriers and win the battle of life against all odds. Barun plays the lead role of Ron Sen, while Panchi plays Sonali in the film. The film introduces Amartya as Shome Ray.
