If KJo ends up making K3G 2, who should play Poo? Don’t see anyone else, says Kareena Kapoor Khan

In a career spanning almost two decades, Kareena Kapoor Khan has starred in several memorable films but her character Poo from Karan Johar’s 2001 release Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, is iconic enough, so much so that she is fondly remembered owing to the particular role that she portrayed. Kareena, though, is sure about the fact that Poo is a character that cannot be “replaced” and if KJo ends up making K3G 2, she doesn’t see anybody else playing the role, she said during an interview with a leading entertainment portal.

Asked who she would like to ‘see as Poo’ if KJo decides to make K3G 2, Kareena told the portal, “No, I think Poo is a character that can’t be replaced. It can’t be done again on screen. I think it was a first. You mentioned my unabashed film choices, this was one of them. No Indian actress had ever portrayed something like that on screen. You never see a vain girl take such pride in talking about herself like 'Tumhara koi haq nahi banta ki tum itni khoobsurat lago'. It was such a bold character.”

Moreover, Kareena also said that her character Poo was way ahead of its time and she is of the opinion that no Indian actor could think of portraying the role on screen, adding that she inspired fans to become like her.

“I don’t think any Indian actor could think of doing it. It was ahead of its time because playing full of yourself can actually be negative but Poo is such a loved character. People kind of walked out of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham saying, “Oh God, I just want to be like Poo”. I think that character cannot be brought to life ever again. I don’t see anyone else playing Poo,” Kareena added.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham co-starred Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Hrithik Roshan apart from Kareena Kapoor.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, last seen in 2018’s Veere Di Wedding, will appear next in Takht and Good News.
