Kartik Aaryan has dismissed reports claiming that he was 'responsible' for Taapsee Pannu’s exit from the remake of Pati Patni Aur Woh and told a leading daily that he “wasn’t even aware” that she was offered the film. B.R. Chopra's 1978 film Pati Patni Aur Woh is being remade with Kartik, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday, playing the lead roles in it.
Ahead of the announcement of the film earlier in January, Taapsee said in an interview that she was dropped from Pati Patni Aur Woh and wasn’t even given a proper explanation for it. Asked about Taapsee’s exit, Kartik denied his role in it, and told the daily, “To begin with, she never said anything about me in her accusations. Secondly, I wasn’t even aware that she was offered the film. I am just a few films old and not in a position to pull off something like that.”

After Taapsee’s interview, producers Bhushan Kumar and Juno Chopra released a joint statement, saying that they "never made any commitment to her.”
"When a script is locked, every director or producer approaches actors for the casting of the film, it is a basic protocol followed by almost all filmmakers. Similarly, for our upcoming project - Pati Patni Aur Woh, we reached out to many actors, who we thought could be our potential protagonists in the film. The versatile actress Taapsee Pannu was one of the many actresses we had approached for one of the leading ladies in the film. We would like to clarify that our casting was purely done on the basis of who suited the characters to the tee,” the statement read.
Pati Patni Aur Woh will be directed by Mudassar Aziz.
