The trend of buying rights of international films and adapting them to suit Indian sensibilities has been in vogue for quite some time now. The latest reports suggest that producer Shaailesh R Singh has acquired the rights of the French film Nuit Blanche popularly known as Sleepless Night. It is also reported that he has approached none other than Abhishek Bachchan to play the lead role in the film.
A source told an entertainment portal, “Yes, Shailesh Singh has acquired the right of Nuit Blanche. The film is a thriller about a cop who gets caught. It is a fast paced action thriller and is a perfect fit for a Bollywood actioner. As of now, Abhishek Bachchan has been approached for the lead role, as he is perfect for the role.”

The crime thriller is about a detective fighting to save his son who is kidnapped by a drug lord. It is also speculated that Saif Ali Khan was in talks to feature in the film that would be directed by Bejoy Nambiar. However, nothing progressed on this front. The film requires an equally strong antagonist and it will be interesting to see who will play the antagonist to Abhishek.
Nuit Blanche or Sleepless Night released in 2011 and was written by Frédéric Jardin. The film stars Tomer Sisley, Adel Bencherif, Julien Boisselier, Joey Starr, Serge Riaboukine, Laurent Stocker and Pom Klementieff.

Sleepless Night has already been remade in Tamil and Telugu in 2015 as Thoongaa Vanam (Sleepless Jungle). It featured Kamal Haasan, Prakash Raj, Trisha Krishnan, Kishore, Sampath Raj, Yugi Sethu, Asha Sarath and Madhu Shalini. Directed by Rajesh M. Selva, the film was dubbed in Hindi as Khakee: The Real Police.
