Sonakshi Sinha will make a special appearance in Indra Kumar’s new film Total Dhamaal so as to recreate veteran actress Helen’s iconic chartbuster Mungda from the 1978 film Inkaar. While speaking to a leading daily about the song, Sonakshi said that for her, it would be “foolish” to “copy” Helen in the reworked version, which is a dance track and isn’t similar to the original song at all. The Total Dhamaal version of Mungda will release on February 5.
“Helen aunty’s grace and charm are unmatched, and it would be foolish to even try to copy her. Our version is a dance number with spruced-up music, lots of choreography and it’s nothing like the original song,” Sonakshi told the daily.

A picture of Sonakshi from Mungda was made available online by Ajay Devgn, who features in the song with her. Of working with Ajay, Sonakshi said, “Since this was a dance number, I got the chance to pull Ajay’s leg as he hates dancing. It’s always a pleasure working with him.”

Interestingly, Sonakshi also featured in the recreated version of Helen’s hit song Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu in Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi. Mungda, meanwhile, has been directed by Kookie Gulati.
“It’s a coincidence that my last performance to an iconic song also happened to be Helen aunty’s. It’s great that we can repackage these iconic songs and present them to today’s generation,” Sonakshi added.
Directed by Indra Kumar, Total Dhamaal is the third instalment of the successful franchise Dhamaal, which originally starred Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey and Riteish Deshmukh. Total Dhamaal is slated to release on February 22.
