Bollywood actor Syed Badr-ul Hasan Khan Bahadur, popularly known as Pappu Polyester in the film industry passed away today. The actor was admired for his many diverse and prolific roles breathed his last in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The veteran actor is most admired for his role as Maharaja of Mysore in the 1990 television series The Sword of Tipu Sultan. He has also worked in films like Darmiyaan: In Between (1997), Ittefaq (2001) and Dhund: The Fog (2003). He won the Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Sword of Tipu Sultan.
He was a descendant of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, the tenth Nawab of Awadh. He has been working in the film, television, theatre and advertisements for the last 25 years. His persona and affable personality accorded him diverse roles and helped him establish himself as an admired actor. He was also proficient in several Indian languages like Hindi, Urdu, Persian, Arabic, English, Punjabi, Awadhi, Bhojpuri, etc.

Pappu Polyester was also a prolific classical dancer and had even won an Award for the Best Classical dance from Birju Maharaj. He was also honoured with a doctorate in acting from Ambedkar University, Uttar Pradesh.
He has featured in films such as Jodha Akbar, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Mann, Khoya Khoya Chand, Farishtey, Maharaja, Phool Aur Angaar, Tere Mere Sapne, Badal, Andha Inteqaam, Tumse Achcha Kaun, Mrs Shrimati, Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage and Hero Hindustan.
