Ranveer Singh will begin filming ’83 soon and ahead of it, will spend three weeks with cricket legend Kapil Dev in order to “transform” himself for his role, a leading daily reports. In ’83, Ranveer has been cast as Kapil Dev while the actor, during his conversation with the daily, said that he cannot wait to spend time with the cricketer and learn in depth about his life.
“I am looking forward to spending time with Kapil sir. I feel that would be integral to my process of transforming myself into him. I want to absorb as much as I can from him — his story, experiences, thoughts, feelings, expressions and energy,” Ranveer told the daily.

Ranveer will start shooting for ’83 in Kapil Dev’s hometown Chandigarh and is more than keen on learning about his life, he said, adding that he is extremely inspired by the cricketer. “I’m keen on getting tips on bowling and batting from the man himself. His achievements are extraordinary. He is the quintessential underdog who became a champion through perseverance, self-belief, hard work and a positive mindset. I am extremely inspired by him. I want to pour myself fully into this exciting character,” Ranveer added.

To be directed by Kabir Khan, '83 is based on the Indian cricket team's historic victory in the 1983 World Cup. Written by National award-winning director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, 83' will be co-produced by Phantom Films and the founder and managing director of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), Vishnu Vardhan Induri.
