Zoya Akhtar slams Kangana Ranaut, says ‘I don’t understand her accusations, people appreciate her work’

Kangana Ranaut’s recent statements about Bollywood ganging up against her and boycotting and ignoring her most ambitious project Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi has not gone down too well with many from the industry. This is not the first time that she has accused the Bollywood fraternity of treating her as an outsider, in fact, she was the one who started the whole nepotism debate on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan.

However, this time around she went on record to say that she will expose everyone in the industry. She accused Alia Bhatt and Aamir Khan of ignoring her film and not lending her support. Recently, at a media interaction, Gully Boy director Zoya Akhtar was asked about Kangana’s statements and was asked her thoughts about the entire controversy. Zoya retorted and said, “Of course people appreciate her work...I don't understand her accusations, I'm sorry.”

Earlier, even Alia had responded to Kangana’s accusations and had said, “I would like to react to her personally if she has any complaints. I don’t want to talk about it in the media. As I have said before, I really admire her as an actor and the choices that she makes. She’s a very outspoken person and I admire her for that as well. If I have upset her unintentionally, then I don’t know. Basically, it wasn’t my intention. I didn’t do anything to get a reaction like this."

Kangana’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is doing pretty well at the box office. Kangana has not only acted by co-directed the film as well.
