Sara Ali Khan loves studying history and if either of you are interested, she is “open to giving anyone history classes” as well. While speaking to a leading daily, Sara spoke about her educational qualification in Columbia University and also revealed that she also used to provide history tuitions while studying in New York.
The 25-year-old actress, who had enrolled herself for a four-year course in History and Political science at the Columbia University, decided upon completing her education in three years. “This meant going to summer school and giving more time to studies. There was no time to take up a real job, but I could help coach other students. So, I became part of a tutor group and would prep students for SAT (a standardised test widely used for college admissions in the US). I would also guide them for history courses. I trained a group of about eight students, and, I admit, with them I learnt a lot myself too,” Sara told the daily.

Although, Sara didn’t get fees for providing tuitions but she said during her conversation with the daily that her students admired her and would often take her out for dinner. Some also sent her presents even after she returned to Mumbai. Money, thus, did not matter as Sara’s students made her feel very special.
“I have to admit that I did not get paid for the tutoring, but the thought of money did not even cross my mind. I would work with the students for a couple of hours, then get back to my own studies. Many of my students were so happy with the help that they would take me out for dinner to lovely places in the Big Apple. Even after I returned to Mumbai, they would keep sending me presents. One of my Indian students once made a lovely pendant for me with the image of Goddess Saraswati inscribed on it. It’s one of the nicest gifts I have ever received,” Sara added.
After completing her education, Sara ventured into films and made her debut in Bollywood with Kedarnath in 2018 and simultaneously appeared in Simmba opposite Ranveer Singh. During her conversation with the daily, Sara added that she aspired to become an actress since she was five, adding that her students and friends often write to her from the US after watching her films.

“Today, many of them write to say they have watched my movies and it makes me nostalgic for my student days. I’m happy to have them join me as I inch closer to my dream. I’ve wanted to act since I was five and after returning from the US, I have the same passion for this profession,” Sara said.
Sara Ali Khan is Saif Ali Khan’s first child with former wife Amrita Singh.
