Gully Boy has not just won hearts but is minting mammoth money at the box office. With authentic locations and a detailed sketch of every character helped the film find a place in the hearts of the audience. The film is based on Indian underground hip hop and rapping scene.
In an interview with an entertainment portal, one of the writers of Gully Boy, Reema Kagti revealed that had Ranveer Singh refused to star in the film, director Zoya Akhtar would have shelved the idea of making the film. Zoya is not just the director of the film but has also assisted Reema in writing the script for the film.

During the interview, when questioned about which actor apart from Ranveer would have done justice to the character of Murad, Reema said, "I think Zoya would’ve had to shelve Gully Boy if Ranveer said no."
Thankfully Ranveer gave a positive nod to the film and the world got to see that he isn't just a spectacular actor but a great rapper too. Not just this, with Gully Boy, the Indian film industry crossed another milestone in delivering strong content oriented films.
