It is not unknown that filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor, who last directed Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Kedarnath, is all set to helm a comic drama next. Titled Sharaabi, the film about a dysfunctional alcoholic is backed by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and Pragya Kapoor's Guy in the Sky Pictures. Its casting is underway and the pre-production is in full swing, read a statement.
Soon after the official announcement, it was touted that Shahid Kapoor is in the contention to play the lead as Abhishek is in talks with the actor already. However no official confirmation about it came forth. Now interestingly, we hear that not just Shahid but Arjun Kapoor too is in the running to essay the role of the protagonist. "Both the actors have reportedly approached the production house for more details on the script and the central character," reported a leading trade portal.

Well, in this battle of Kapoor versus Kapoor, we wonder who emerges as the winners and eventually bags the role.
Meanwhile, speculation have been rife whether the film is a remake of the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Sharabi that released in 1984 and also featured Jaya Prada, Pran and Om Prakash. Abhishek’s film is also touted to be a musical, which has given rise to the rumours of it being the remake of the original film.
