On the occasion of International Women's Day today, the participated in the Lucknow leg of a nationwide Run4Niine marathon to create awareness among people about menstrual taboos. Over the period of the next few days, around 500 female riders will navigate across 20 states.
Akshay joined a group of female bikers (Biker Ranis) in the marathon. He shared a picture from the event on his Instagram account and captioned it, "Breaking stereotypes...at #Run4Niine with these biking queens, Biker Rani in Lucknow today. #HappyWomensDay"
Akshay also sported pink pants to mark the International Women's Day, which is globally celebrated on March 8.

At the do, Akshay said that International Women's Day is a significant day for all females across the globe and it's not just celebrated to showcase their achievements but a 'cold reminder of inequalities'. The bike race has been initiated by Run4Niine, which specifically focuses on women and encourages fitness activities to shun period surrounding taboo and Akshay is the face of this initiative.
