Here’s why makers of Kalank have reportedly preponed the release of the film to April 17

The release date of Karan Johar’s upcoming film Kalank has been preponed by two days as the Abhishek Varman directorial will release on April 17 instead of April 19, a leading daily reports. Kalank was scheduled to release on April 19 but as per sources, makers intend to benefit from the two holidays - Mahavir Jayanti as well as Good Friday - in that particular week leading to an extended weekend.

“The idea is to capitalise on Mahavir Jayanti as well as Good Friday, besides Saturday and Sunday. It’s an extended weekend with two partial holidays. And going by past records, it’s a good time for a big film to release,” a source close to the film was quoted as saying.

In fact, Avengers: End Game will release on April 26 and considering the fact that Kalank will hit screens nine days before, it will be able to dominate theatres without competition. “It’s a well-thought out business decision to advance the opening,” the source added.

Kalank stars Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt in the pivotal roles. Their first look posters have been released.
