Sona Mohapatra lashes out at Sonu Nigam after a show replaces her with Kailash Kher

Singer Sona Mohapatra has always been vocal about inequalities towards her. Sona, on March 9, shared a post on her Twitter account mentioning that she got replaced by Kailash Kher on International Women's Day for a program. She not just informed the folks on Twitter that such incidents have taken place with her twice in the past and this one is the third time, but Sona also lashed out at Sonu Nigam.

Sona's tweet read, "You will be happy & relieved to know dear men’s rights activists including Sonu Nigam ji, for the 3rd time in the last few months, a show date for me has gotten cancelled & my act has been replaced by, Kailash Kher. That yesterday’s gig was on Womens Day was the cherry. @IndiaMeToo"

In 2018, Sona joined the #MeTooIndia movement after accusing Kailash and singer-composer Anu Malik of sexual misconduct. In an interview back then, Sona said, "I met Kailash for coffee in Prithvi Café to discuss a forthcoming concert where both our bands were playing." She added that during their chat, he allegedly put a hand on her thigh and said things such as "You're so beautiful" and "I feel so good that a 'musician (Ram Sampath) got you' and not an actor."

Later she got involved in a heated argument with Sonu after he defended Anu at an event. Addressing Sonu, Sona said, "So much sympathy for a millionaire losing work? So much empathy for his privileged family being 'tortured'? How about the scores of girls & women he tortured? Multiple testimonies not proof enough?"

In turn, Sonu told media, "The respectable lady vomiting on Twitter, is the wife of someone who I consider very close to me, so although she has forgotten the relationship, I'd like to maintain the decorum."

However post the verbal argument, nothing seemed to resolve between the singers as Sona in her recent post addressed Sonu as 'men's rights activist'.
