Ishaan Khatter, who impressed fans with his performance in Dhadak, has agreed to star in a biopic on freedom fighter Birsa Munda, a leading daily reports. Sources told the daily that Ishaan approved of the plot of the film after attending the script narration session and has “verbally given his nod” to the project.
Birsa Munda belonged to the Munda tribe and was known for fronting the Millenarian movement in the tribal belt of modern-day Bihar and Jharkhand during the British Raj. Considering the fact that Birsa died at the age of 25, makers of the film hoped to cast a young hero in his role. “He died at the age of 25, so the makers wanted a young hero who could look convincing,” the source added.

The film will be reportedly directed by South filmmaker Pa Ranjith, who has directed films such as Attakathi, Madras, Kabali and Kaala. If rumours as such are true, Birsa Munda biopic will mark his debut in Bollywood.
“He had directed Kaala with Rajinikanth last year and has been toying with the idea of making a film on Birsa Munda for some time. Once Ishaan gives his go ahead, the movie is expected to go on floors in the next few weeks,” the source said.
