On March 11, the Padma awards ceremony was held in Delhi in presence of the awardees and Indian President Ram Nath Kovind. South star Mohanlal received the Padma Bhushan while choreographer turned director-actor Prabhudheva, actor Manoj Bajpayee, and singer Shankar Mahadevan were honoured with Padma Shri.
Mohanlal received the honours owning to a phenomenal contribution to the film industry down south. Mohanlal has films like Drishyam, Dasharatham, Nadodikkattu to his kitty.

Breathless singer Shankar was conferred with Padma Shri for his excellent and soulful contribution to the Indian music industry. Not just romantic songs like Mitwaa, Shankar is behind beautiful songs like Dilbaro, and Maa to name a few. He has also lent his vocals to regional language songs as well. Shankar showcased his acting prowess in Katyar Kaljat Ghusli, a musical drama film.

Prabhudheva, who isn't just a supremely talented dancer but a great actor and director too. Prabhu recently choreographed the song Suraiya in Thugs of Hindostan. He acted and directed the dance-themed film ABCD. Prabhu received the award for his contribution towards the dance field.

Manoj, however, didn't make it to the ceremony. He was bestowed upon the honour for his contribution towards Bollywood in the form of films like Aiyyary, LOC Kargil, Gangs of Wasseypur, Satya and Special 26 to name a few.
Late Kader Khan was posthumously awarded for his excellent work in the films. He gave notable performances in the films Dulhe Raja, Coolie No. 1, Judaai, Anari, and Sanam Teri Kasam. He passed away in 2018 in Canada.
