Deepika Padukone is a professional of high calibre and that can be seen in the films she picks up. Be it the fiery Leela in Goliyon Ki Raas Leela-Ram Leela or the beautiful warrior princess Padmavati in Padmaavat, she has proven that she can mould herself into any character you give. With Chhapaak, Deepika will be pairing with Meghna Gulzar for the first time for a film on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. In an interview with a leading daily, a source close to the film revealed how Deepika will be preparing for the role. The source said the Piku actress has been researching a lot about acid attack survivors and their stories.
"Deepika first searched websites to learn how the acid survivors were affected. She is also looking up all available material like photographs/videos on the internet about Laxmi to thoroughly research her life. In fact, Laxmi herself has been very supportive, even sharing material on her journey that is not available anywhere else or is not yet out in the public domain. Deepika was also provided DVDs and pen drives, containing material about 10 survivors, by the makers of the project. The actor is making sure that every detail is in place," the source told the daily.

Soon after it was declared that Meghna will be stepping into the shoe of the director, it definitely upped the excitement for further updates and for the film to release. Earlier, in an interview with an entertainment portal, Deepika said that this is a film on such a story that needs to be told.

Talking about Laxmi, she faced a horrid acid attack in 2005 and has put up a brave fight since then. The good news is Laxmi is happy that Deepika will represent her on the silver screen and also said a while ago that she won't judge the actress. She also thanked Meghna and Deepika, who is the producer of the film for bringing out her story in the form of a film.
