Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra made her debut in Aamir Khan's Dangal in 2016 and her role of Babita Phogat in the biopic was much appreciated. Following that, she went on to receive critical acclaim for her films, Badhaai Ho and Pataakha, which released last year. No as she gears up to share screen-space with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Ritesh Batra's Photgraph, Sanya opened up on her struggles and revealed how she bagged Dangal after getting rejected from a dance reality show.
During an interview with social media blog Humans of Bombay, the actress expressed her love for dancing, thereby stating that she was a born-dancer who used to dance at every wedding she attended, while the actor with-in her maintained a low-key. Further disclosing how life took its own turn after she got rejected from Dance India Dance, she said, "I got rejected because my backstory wasn’t strong. That’s when I thought maybe I wasn’t meant to perform at all. That show may have rejected me, but it’s what got me to Bombay. I owed it to myself to at least try. So I told my dad about acting. To my surprise, he was supportive!"

Someone was taking a BTS video & I remember telling her, ‘I’m pakka in this film!’ I was that confident," she added.
Her upcoming film Photograph is slated to release on March 15.
