The biopic on former Indian football team coach Syed Abdul Rahim will see Ajay Devgn stepping into his shoes. The film chronicles the golden period of Indian football from 1950 to 1963. Director Amit Sharma of Badhaai Ho fame has been roped in to direct the film. Now, as reported by a leading tabloid, South star Keerthy Suresh who stars in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films will be making her Bollywood debut with the film. She is on board and is set to play the female lead opposite Ajay.
Keerthy told the tabloid that she focuses on signing films that have substantial, challenging parts for her. Talking about Ajay’s film she said, “Syed Abdul Rahim’s story is a forgotten chapter in Indian history and I am glad that the makers are telling it through a film.” The film is being produced by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla and Arunava Joy Sengupta. The screenplay for the film has been written by Saiwyn Quadros.

Boney told the tabloid, “It’s also a conservative love story which focuses on the couple’s life after marriage. Keerthy is one of the most successful actresses in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema. Her presence would give us an enhanced reach in the Southern belt. He also added that the film is not a bilingual but a Hindi feature film and has the potential to break language barriers.
