I will stop acting the moment I become a full-fledged filmmaker, says Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan has a certain inclination towards filmmaking and said that he will quit acting after he becomes a “full-fledged filmmaker”.  The 54-year-old actor began his career in the entertainment industry as an actor and doesn’t want to stop acting in films at the moment but will have to do so after he purses filmmaking as a full-time job.

"I am inclined towards filmmaking and I coincidentally directed Taare Zameen Par. I have been in love with filmmaking and acting, and I can't alienate the two but what I can say right now is that I began my career as an actor and it excites me. The moment I become a full-fledged filmmaker, I will stop acting. Right now, I don't want to stop acting, that's why I am holding back the director inside me," Aamir told reporters on Thursday.

Aamir made his debut as a director with 2007’s Taare Zameen Par and won several accolades for his role in the film as well as his direction. In fact, Aamir has also produced some of his films including Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par, Talaash: The Answer Lies Within, Dangal and Secret Superstar.

While addressing the press, Aamir also said that he intends to make creative films. "I had not thought at what pace I will make films. Usually, people make films with their production houses for business. That is not our first agenda. Creativity is our agenda. Till the time we don't get a good script, we don't make it into a film,” he added.

Aamir Khan, on his birthday on March 14, announced his next project, Lal Singh Chaddha, an official adaptation of Tom Hanks' 1994 film Forrest Gump.
