Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre left her fans and the entire nation in a state of shock when she announced in July last year that she was suffering from metastatic cancer. Post the diagnosis, she left for New York for the treatment and got back to Mumbai in December for a short break before heading off to the Big Apple in March this year. During her time in Mumbai, she not only made public appearances but also shot for her first television commercial after the Big C.
Posting the advertisement on her social media handle, Sonali gave out a strong message to all mothers and made them believe that it is okay to not always have the right answers to their children’s queries. Sharing an anecdote from her childhood, she captioned the post as, "I once saw my grandmother tie a knot on the tail of her saree’s pallu. As a curious child, I asked her why she did it. She said she couldn’t remember everything all the time, so this knot would keep reminding her what she needs to do. I want you to also do this today. Tie a knot and take a pledge to share your #MujheSabNahiPata #IDidntKnow stories. Your story could help another mother be better prepared."

Meanwhile, talking about her tryst with the deadly disease, Sonali had said at a conclave that it has made her stronger. "I am still asking myself ‘Why I am doing it?’ Every time I feel fearful of something now, I do it. Fear no longer has any place in my life. I had forgotten to be fearless. I realised I was fearless," she had mentioned.
