Ramesh Taurani confirms sequel to Shahid Kapoor’s and Amrita Rao’s Ishq Vishk; Story is in scripting stage, he says

Filmmaker Ramesh Taurani has confirmed a sequel to Shahid Kapoor’s debut film Ishq Vishk and said while speaking to a leading daily that the script of the second part is being written at the moment. The plot, Taurani said, might revolve around college romance while the makers will begin their search for the director and the cast after finalizing the script within three months.

“Yes, we are making a sequel to Ishq Vishk. The story is in scripting stage and could be about a teenage romance or a college romance. Hopefully, in the next two-three months we will lock the script and start looking for the director and cast,” Taurani told the daily.

Directed by Ken Ghosh, Ishq Vishk starred Amrita Rao opposite Shahid Kapoor and also featured Shenaz Treasury. While speaking of the 2003 film, Taurani told the daily, “When we got Ken on board, he had suggested two-three different concepts which would have required established stars and didn’t really impress me. Then, he came up with an idea to be headlined by newcomers, which we really liked and greenlit the project. We worked really hard on the film, the entire process from the first pitch to the wrap took us a year.”

Before making his debut with Ishq Vishk, Shahid appeared as a dancer in the films Dil To Pagal Hai and Taal and also featured in the Aryans’ music video Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra along with Hrishitaa Bhatt in 1999.

“He was very young then, so I asked him to wait for two-three years before I could launch him. When Ken narrated the final story of Ishq Vishk to me, I told him that I had a hero who fits the part and introduced him to Shahid,” Taurani said, adding that he spotted Amrita in a coffee commercial and decided to cast her in the film.

Shahid Kapoor is an established star at the moment and will appear next in Kabir Singh while Amrita Rao was last seen in Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Thackeray.
