Meghna Gulzar takes home the trophy for Best Director (Popular) at Filmfare Awards 2019

Alia Bhatt’s 2018 film Raazi, based on Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat, was severely applauded by critics while the film also fared exceptionally well at the box office. Also starring Vicky Kaushal, Jaideep Ahlawat and Rajit Kapur, director Meghna Gulzar showed the India-Pakistan spy drama against the backdrop of the 1971 war through the film.

Now at the Filmfare Awards 2019, being held at Jio Garden in Mumbai tonight, Meghna won the Best Director (Popular) award for her fabulous work in bringing the story of Sehmat on the silver screen.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Meghna is now working on her next Chhapaak, starring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey. The film is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
