Kapil Dev is currently gearing up to mentor and train the onscreen team of Kabir Khan's '83 starring Ranveer Singh and while he is busy doing that his daughter Amiya has been quietly working as an assistant director on the sports-drama. The 23-year-old Delhi girl is keen on learning the ropes of filmmaking before she pursues a career in films.
While Kabir and producer Madhu Mantena remained unavailable for comment, former cricketer Sandeep Patil’s son Chirag, who is playing his father in the film, told a leading daily that though both their fathers played the 1983 World cup together, he met Amiya only recently. “We met for the first time while working on the film. She’s from Delhi, I’m from Mumbai and she’s way younger than me. She’s part of our daily training sessions since she is on the direction team. So, she keeps us updated on any meetings we are supposed to attend. Whenever I’m in Kabir’s office, she’s there and is very involved in the process, be it planning the costumes or the schedule,” Chirag informed.

The team begins shooting around May 15 in London and Scotland. It’s a 100-day schedule. Other actors who are part of the cast include Pankaj Tripathi, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Sahil Khattar, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva among others. Ranveer will spend time with Kapil before the shoot to observe his lifestyle and mannerisms.
