The first look of Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film, an adaptation of 1995’s Coolie No 1, will release on his birthday April 24, a leading daily reports. Coolie No 1 casts Sara Ali Khan opposite Varun and will be directed by his father, filmmaker David Dhawan, who had also directed the original. The film, in fact, will also be the first production under the Dhawans’ home banner.
Sources told the daily that Varun and Sara have already shot for the first poster of the film and the makers intend to launch it on his birthday. “The shoot has already taken place and Varun’s birthday seemed liked a great occasion to show the audience what’s in store for them,” a source was quoted as saying by the daily.
Coolie No.1 starred Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead roles while Varun and Sara will reprise their roles respectively. “Both, Varun and Sara, have a huge fan following. They are talented actors and this would be a jodi that the audience will want to see in a film,” the source added.
Varun Dhawan, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of Kalank, co-starring Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit, scheduled for April 17.
Sara Ali Khan made her debut in Bollywood with Kedarnath in 2018 and subsequently appeared in Simmba opposite Ranveer Singh. She is currently filming Imtiaz Ali’s project, co-starring Kartik Aaryan.
