Sanjay Dutt will soon be seen on the big screen in one of the year’s most-anticipated film Kalank. The film has an ensemble star cast that also includes Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Kunal Kemmu and Aditya Roy Kapur. During an interview recently, Sanjay spoke at length about the film, his character and the fact that the current generation of actors are not like him in his younger days.
During the interview, Sanjay said that he will soon be turning 60 this year but he still feels like a 10-year-old in his head. Talking about the new generation of actors he said, “Today's young generation of actors doesn't remind me of my time. We were more cool and open. They are very confident and competitive. There are calculations involved now. Earlier, it felt like a family but now it is more work."
Sanjay is playing a father in the film. He plays the role of a formidable man named Balraj Chaudhry and has a grown-up son in the form of Aditya Roy Kapur in the film. Talking about his role he said that he can relate to the character. He said, “Balraj is an integral character of the film. It's about his family, love, loss, and relationships, which is interesting. I feel I have reached that age where I can play this character."
Earlier, Sanjay had played father to Aditi Rao Hydari in the film Bhoomi. Kalank is a period drama set in the 1940s and was originally supposed to be helmed by Karan Johar’s father Yash Johar. The story was conceived fifteen years ago but was put on hold after the demise of Johar Sr. Now, it is directed by Abhishek Varman whereas Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala are producing the film. Kalank is slated to release on April 17.
