Akshay Kumar is No. 1 on Ormax Stars India Loves!

Ormax Stars India Loves, the monthly popularity report that has been tracking people’s favourite Bollywood stars in 64 cities across India since 2008, finds that Akshay Kumar has remained top of his game all through March and is the overall No. 1 popular actor of the industry.

Undoubtedly the super hit that Akshay singlehandedly gave with Kesari last month has proved that when it comes to ruling the box office charts with an action-packed performance, there is nobody in Bollywood to beat the actor everybody still refers to as the “Khiladi” in awe.

Close on Akshay’s heels, after delivering back-to-back hits with Gully Boy in February and Simmba in December, is the mercurial Ranveer Singh. But Ranveer, according to Ormax Stars India Loves, though at the No. 2 position in March, ranks first in his popularity with females and youngsters.

The No. 1 actress of February is Deepika Padukone and that is astonishing because the actress’ last film was Padmaavat in January 2018, and after that, Deepika only made news when she got married to Ranveer Singh in December 2018 and then signed acid attack victim Laxmi Agarwal’s biopic Chhapaak that’s being made by Meghna Gulzar.

Trailing Deepika but fast developing a massive fan base of her own is Alia Bhatt at No. 2. Alia, who also had back-to-back hits in Gully Boy and Raazi in May 2018, is perceived as a youth influencer and is bound to overtake everybody else in the Ormax Stars India Loves charts after her period film Kalank and the fantasy adventure Brahmastra (both by Dharma Productions) release this year.

However, the Ormax Stars India Loves listings are done based only on a star’s popularity with audiences. Their film releases, TV appearances, news events and brand endorsements are not taken into consideration. Their popularity ranking is relevant to studios as well as other Bollywood stakeholders such as advertisers, media agencies and talent management companies that invest in the starts based on how popular they are.
