Varun Dhawan was singled out for praise for his performance in Shoojit Sircar’s October last year but the actor is considerably upset since the film was snubbed at the award functions held over the past few months. October earned few nominations and speaking about it, Varun said that the media should take note and write extensively about the aforementioned fact.
"The press needs to write about the film (not being nominated). Till date, I get at least one message a day for that movie,” Varun said.
October cast Varun as a hotel-management trainee, who takes care of his friend Shiuli (Banita Sandhu) after she slips into coma. "Recently, Jacqueline Fernandez watched the film on a flight and called me to appreciate my performance. That is the royalty I am collecting,” Varun added.
The 31-year-old actor also said that he didn’t sign up for October for awards but because he felt deeply for the character. "The award shows have a lot of other criteria (at play). I am happy to go, perform at these events and get paid for it. I never did October for awards. I did it because the script clicked with me. Awards will come and go. This film will stay,” Varun added.
Varun Dhawan is currently promoting his upcoming film Kalank, co-starring Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt. Directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank will release on April 17.
