With less than a month until its release on May 10, the trailer of the much-awaited Student of the Year 2 was unveiled today. Helmed by Punit Malhotra and bankrolled by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions in association with Fox Star Studios, the film stars Tiger Shroff in the lead and marks the debut of Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday.
SOTY 2 trailer will certainly remind you of the first batch of glamorous students, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra, from KJo’s larger-than-life college, Student of the Year (2012). But the new batch will undoubtedly leave you impressed with their acting, dancing, romance and much more. To say the least, Student of the Year 2 promises to be a visual treat and Tiger, Ananya and Tara are all set to create a storm.
But before we get to witness their magic on the silver screen, let’s take a look at a few things we totally loved in the trailer:
Debutantes - Ananya and Tara
While it might be difficult to take your eyes off Tiger in the trailer, the leading ladies are not far behind in terms of their onscreen presence. While Tara’s Mia is shown as someone who is eyeing the dance competition in the college and takes Tiger’s help for the same, Ananya is depicted as a spoilt brat. In one of the scenes, she is even seen spray painting Tiger's bicycle in pink, thereby calling him a 'Princess', in order to put him down in front of the other students. You have to bookmark that wink!
Tiger’s action skills
Tiger has emerged as one of the most loved action heroes in Bollywood and he doesn’t shy away from engaging in some hard-hitting action scenes, even in a romantic-drama like SOTY 2. From fighting the film’s lead antagonist, played by Aditya Seal, to leading all the way in a variety of sports to seize the Student of the Year title, Tiger will certainly not leave his fans disappointed.
Kabaddi Kabaddi
The trailer of SOTY 2 starts with a fabulous entry of Tiger as he plays kabaddi with his teammates and he looks super-excited to enter St. Teresa as a student. Well, this is the first time that Kabaddi as a sport has been giving an upper hand in a mainstream Hindi masala film. And Tiger in his athletic frame will be a treat to watch.
Music
The film’s music has been composed by Vishal-Shekhar and the lyrics have been written by Irshad Kamil. Not to miss, the trailer gives a glimpse of the recreated version of the retro hit 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' apart from a wonderful background score. Talking about it, Karan said at the trailer launch that he wanted the first song of the film to be a retro song and since 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' is his favourite, he persuaded Punit to add it in the film.
Love triangle
Ever since SOTY 2 was announced, fans were aware that the film is going to feature a love triangle between the leading man and his two love interests. The trailer depicts the same and at one point, Tara is seen telling that she loves Tiger and Ananya replied by stating, "So do I!" As expected, the film promises a fight for love, heartbreaks, and emotional dramas.
But as expected, Karan’s extravagant film is as colorful as it gets and strikingly similar to its predecessor. And we are excited!
