Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Inshallah, starring Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, is a romantic film “rooted in Indian culture”, a leading daily reports. Salman and Alia star opposite each other in the film and their characters are 20 years apart in age difference as per sources of the daily. The 53-year-old actor has been cast as a businessman while Alia plays an aspiring actress.
Salman’s character, as per sources, is similar to that of his role in his 1997 film Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai. “Salman is a businessman in his mid-40s. The character is reminiscent of his turn in his 1997 romcom Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai. Alia plays a 20-something aspiring actress. All the factors, including age gap, have been taken into consideration. The story will justify the teaming up of two actors, from different generations, on a romantic journey,” a source was quoted as saying by the daily.
The report also states that the film will be shot around the river Ganga while a part of the project will also be filmed in the US. “The locations under consideration are Haridwar, Rishikesh and Varanasi. The crew was contemplating on several places, including Europe, but settled on the US after several rounds of recce. Salman and Alia will be there in winters,” the source added.
Inshallah is expected to begin filming in September. Salman Khan is currently filming Dabangg 3 and also gearing up for the release of Bharat, scheduled for Eid.
Alia Bhatt’s Kalank released on April 17.
