Karan Johar’s latest production venture Kalank is not performing according to expectations. The film was a highly anticipated one but failed to ignite the box office and has managed to garner only Rs 50 crores in the first four days despite having the year’s biggest opening. One of the major dip in the collections could be the fact that the film starring a stellar star cast of Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt, Varun Dhawan and Kunal Kemmu has been leaked online by the infamous Tamil Rockers- a well-known name in the world of film piracy.
According to media reports, Kalank was leaked online just a day after its release on Wednesday. The infamous piracy group has been the bane for many filmmakers and high profile films. The website usually leaks south Indian films and had leaked Rajinikanth’s and Akshay Kumar's 2.0 after which the makers resorted to court proceedings. They have even leaked the first episode of Game of Thrones season 8.
Directed by Abhishek Varman Kalank is a period drama set in the 1940s. The film was originally conceptualized by Karan Johar’s father Yash Johar and Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol were supposed to originally star in it. The film is co-produced by Sajid Nadiadwala as well.
