Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy transported Siddhant Chaturvedi to instant fame after his brilliant portrayal of MC Sher in the film and if a report in a leading daily is anything to go by, the makers are planning a spin-off based on his character. Gully Boy cast Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles while Siddhant played his mentor in the film.
Sources told the daily that producer Ritesh Sidhwani and Zoya are busy formulating a plot for a spin-off that will be entirely based on Siddhant’s character.
“The film is entirely based on Siddhant’s character and traces MC Sher’s journey to becoming a hero. This will also give the makers a chance to delve deeper into the hiphop culture and you can expect many engaging rap battles,” a source was quoted as saying by the daily.
Gully Boy starred Ranveer Singh as a street rapper from Mumbai and his character is inspired by the life of Indian rappers Naezy aka Naved Shaikh and DIVINE aka Vivian Fernandes.
Siddhant, in fact, had also told the daily that he has been reading several scripts, adding, “Even Ritesh is developing something for me.” Ritesh, meanwhile, had also said, “He is clear he wants to only play a protagonist and we are developing a script with him as the lead.”
