Apart from Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif’s character in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat will also age from her 20s to the early 60s and Veera Kapur, her stylist for the film, told a leading daily that it took almost two hours every single day to create the actress’ look.
"Ali's brief was that he wanted Katrina to look simple. It wasn't much of a toil because, in person, she prefers a minimalistic look,” Veera told the daily. Katrina’s look in Bharat is ultra simple as she has been spotted wearing basic sarees while her hair has been set in soft curls in Bharat.
Moreover, Veera added that prosthetics were used to create Katrina’s look as he character aged in Bharat. "We used prosthetics to show the ageing process. While Katrina sports a chiselled jawline in the younger portions, we made it less defined as the story progressed. In the latter portions, you can see her with fuller cheeks, under-eye wrinkles and grey hair. It would take us about two hours to attain the look. We also conveyed her maturity by the use of different fabrics. In the young portions, she is seen wearing delicate chiffon sarees, and as the character ages, she gravitates towards deep-hued cotton sarees,” Veera added.
Also, to imbibe the meticulous characteristics in Katrina’s look, Veera and the team watched old Hindi films starring Nutan and several others. Katrina, in fact, was also delighted to sport curls for her character Kumud Raina.
"We watched many old films and looked at images of yesteryear Bollywood actresses, like Nutan. Katrina also loved the idea of having curls. She thought it would create an image different from her previous characters,” Veera said.
Bharat casts Katrina Kaif opposite Salman Khan. The film is an official adaptation of 2014 South Korean film Ode To My Father.
