Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar has begun work on her next project, a Mumbai gangster film, and has approached Ranveer Singh to play the lead role in it, a leading magazine reports, citing sources. As per the report, Zoya has been contemplating the film since quite a long time and she is busy acquiring the remake rights to an “Oscar-winning American gangster saga”.
However, no details have been made available of the American gangster saga that Zoya intends to remake in Hindi. The film, in fact, will also star two heroes and Ranveer has been informed about it. Sources also said that the remake rights-holder is interested in co-producing the film.

Zoya, however, intends to produce the film through her in-house production company. However, might we assert that no official word has been issued on the film so far by either Zoya or Ranveer.
With Zoya, Ranveer has worked in two films - Dil Dhadakne Do and Gully Boy. Co-starring Alia Bhatt, Gully Boy released in February and was appraised by fans as well as critics. Gully Boy cast Ranveer as a street rapper from Mumbai and the film was received well for its classic soundtrack also.
Zoya Akhtar has also made films such as Luck By Chance, and had directed a particular segment in Lust Stories.
Ranveer Singh is currently training for Kabir Khan’s ’83.
