Late Kader Khan's son Sarfraz proudly receives father's Padmashri award in Toronto, Canada

Veteran actor Kader Khan breathed her last last year on December 31 due to age related illnesses. Not to forget, the actor has over 300 films with written dialogues for over 250 films to his credit. To honour his work, the late legend was awarded with a Padmashri recently. Although he is not alive to receive the award, his son Sarfraz proudly received it on behalf of his late father as he could not make it to the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The award was handed over to Sarfraz in Toronto by the Consul General Dinesh Bhatia.

The official Facebook page of India in Toronto-Consulate General of India shared the update with a caption, "Consul General Dinesh Bhatia delivered Padma Shri 2019 award for Shri Kader Khan (posthumously) to his son Shri Sarfraz Khan, in Toronto. Shri Sarfraz, who couldn’t receive the award personally from Rashtrapati Bhavan, thanked Government of India for the unique honour bestowed on his late father."

For those caught unaware, Kader Khan had reportedly once expressed his disappointment on not getting a Padmashri and had told a news agency, "If the government feels that I have done good work, it will honour me. It’s people’s love that they are demanding it for me... It’s good that they did not give me a Padma Shri. I have neither flattered anyone in my life, nor will I ever. I don’t want these awards if they have been given to people (in the industry) who got it this time."
